What school offices tell us

01

“The balance is wrong, and nobody can say why.” A parent calls about a number, and the office spends the afternoon rebuilding it by hand.

02

“Every simple job takes ten screens.” Recording one check or finding one family shouldn’t need a training binder.

03

“Support takes days to answer.” When billing is due Friday, a ticket number isn’t help.

1Accurate numbers

Numbers you can prove, not just print.

When a parent asks “how did I get to this balance?”, the answer is already on the screen. Every charge, credit, payment and returned check is one line, with a running balance beside it.

  • Every balance explains itself. Line by line, in plain English, with who entered it and when.
  • The books are checked every day. Billed, minus assistance, minus collected, must equal what every family owes added up separately. If it’s off by a penny, you’ll know that morning.
  • Nothing changes quietly. Every edit is logged with a name and a time, so questions get answered in minutes.
  • Returned payments are handled by the rules. When a bank returns a payment, it goes on the family’s ledger with the fee from your contract, automatically.

2Simple software

If you can use email, you can use this.

Kesher is built for the people who actually run the office: the bookkeeper, the secretary, the menahel who needs one number before a board meeting. Plain words, big buttons, nothing hidden three menus deep.

  • One search box finds any family. Type a last name, a child’s name, a phone number or a check number.
  • Everyday jobs take a click or two. Record a check, send a statement, send an alert, print a receipt.
  • Written in plain English. “What happened” and “Running balance”, not codes and abbreviations.
  • New staff can find their way. No training binder needed to answer a parent’s question.

Support from people who pick up.

Your school gets a named support person who knows your office, your billing and your families. Call, text or message right from the screen. No ticket numbers, no overseas phone tree.

  • Fast. Message from inside Kesher and get a person, usually within minutes during office hours.
  • Local. We’re based in Lakewood, keep the school week’s hours, and can come to your office when it helps.
  • Proactive. If a payment file looks off or a bank returns payments, we tell you before you have to ask.

Everything the office runs on

One place for tuition, donations and parents.

Every total on every screen comes from the same family ledgers, so the reports, the statements and the parent portal always agree.

Tuition & billing

Tuition per child, fees, sibling discounts and contract rules, applied the same way every time. Statements that parents can actually read.

Payment plans & ACH

Monthly ACH, card autopay, post-dated checks or paid in full. Returned payments post themselves, with the fee from your contract.

Tuition assistance

Committee decisions go straight onto the family’s ledger as a clear credit, with who approved it and when. Kept private from everyone who doesn’t need to see it.

Pledges & donations

Dinners, campaigns and multi-year building pledges in one list. Tax receipts go out automatically when a payment comes in.

Parent alerts

One message goes out by phone call, text, email and app together. Calls go first, so families with kosher phones hear it right away.

Busing updates

Bus running late? Alert just the families on that route, not the whole school. Drivers and routes live right next to the families they serve.

Parent portal on any phone

Parents see their balance, their payment schedule and every line behind it. Families without smartphones can get statements by text, mail or a call.

Reports

Who’s past due, what came in this month, how each campaign is doing. Numbers the menahel and the board can trust, without a spreadsheet afterwards.

Accounting export

Send totals to your accountant’s books in the format they already use. Summaries tie back to the same ledgers, line for line.

Built for kosher phones

Alerts that reach every parent.

Many of your families don’t use smartphones, and an email or app notification will never reach them. Kesher calls first, then texts, then sends email and app messages, so every parent hears it the way they can.

  • Phone call and text first. A clear recorded message reaches kosher phones and landlines. Email and app follow for everyone else.
  • A delivery report for every message. See who was reached, by which channel, and who wasn’t.
  • Automatic retry. Missed calls are tried again. Phones that can’t take texts get a call instead.
  • Busing alerts to just one route. Only the families on Bus 4 hear that Bus 4 is late.

Switching is on us

One summer. Five steps. We do the heavy lifting.

Changing systems is the part schools dread most, so we take it on. You keep running your office; we move everything over and check it before anything counts.

  1. 1

    Export from your current system

We tell you exactly which reports to pull, or sit with your bookkeeper while you do it. Families, children, balances, payment plans, donors.

  2. 2

We load it and check every balance

Every family balance is matched to the penny against your old system. Your bookkeeper reviews and signs off before anything moves forward.

  3. 3

    Run side by side

For a few weeks both systems run together, so you can compare and see for yourself that the numbers agree.

  4. 4

We help parents re-enter payment details

Families get a simple secure link by text, or a phone call from us to walk them through it. Your office doesn’t have to chase anyone.

  5. 5

    Go live before September billing

The first billing run happens on Kesher, with us on call for it and for the weeks after.

Our accuracy guarantee

If a family balance is ever wrong because of our system, that month is free.

We’ll fix the balance, show you exactly what happened, and you won’t pay for that month. We’re that confident in the numbers.

Pricing

Simple monthly pricing by school size.

No setup fees, no long contracts. Switching is free.

Questions

Good questions to ask.

Anything else, ask us on the demo call. We’re happy to go through it with your bookkeeper or board.

Is our families’ data secure?

Yes. Everything travels over encrypted connections and is stored encrypted. Every staff member gets their own login, access can be limited by role (tuition assistance stays private, for example), and every change is logged with a name and a time.

Card and bank numbers are handled by a regulated, PCI-compliant payment provider. They never touch school computers.

Who owns the data?

Your school does. You can export your families, ledgers and donors at any time in standard spreadsheet formats. If you ever leave, we hand everything over.

How long does switching take?

Most of the work happens over the summer: export, load and check, a few weeks side by side, then go live before September billing. The earlier we start talking, the smoother it goes. Spring is ideal.

Does it really work for families with kosher phones?

Yes. Alerts go out as a phone call first, then a text, then email and app. Phones that can’t take texts get a call. Statements and balances can go out by text, mail or phone too, so no family is left out because of the phone they use.

How are payments processed?

ACH and card payments are processed by a regulated, PCI-compliant payment provider and deposited to your school’s bank account. Parents enter their own details through a secure link, so card numbers never pass through your office. Every payment lands on the right family’s ledger automatically.

Do we have to sign a long contract?

No. Simple monthly pricing, no long-term contract, no setup fees. We’d rather keep you because the office likes using it.
